Description

Earlier photos of scarlet macaw ballcourt ballgame goalstones have been included in FLAAR Reports on the ballcourt, with the intention of featuring them in a separate report on the Copan Sculpture Museum. To ensure high quality, a photoshoot was conducted in February 2024, utilizing special black backgrounds to focus on each goalstone individually. Two series of macaws were identified: two naturalistic and four stylized, likely representing different stages of the ballcourt’s development. Considerable effort was dedicated to the endeavor, with portable studio equipment and various lighting techniques employed to meticulously capture the images. The field trip required two trucks to transport the team and equipment, with over five types of lighting utilized for optimal results.
