Impressive Geological Fault, Fractured Limestone Hill Overlooking Savanna East of Nakun
While hiking the roughly 6 kilometers from Nakum to the savanna to the east, once you get near the savanna you begin to notice entire areas of the limestone hill that are split and fractured.
Geological fault lines are common in karst areas of Peten but I am not a geologist. So it is best if a geologist comes here or a student selects this area for a MS thesis or PhD dissertation. There is also a geological fault line that crosses the plaza of Yaxha ruins where Stela 11 is located.
