Description
This photo report shows a compilation of more than 120 photos and drawings from the FLAAR Photo Archive portraying a significant amount of Late Classic Maya plates. In that sense, the common theme that brings together this photo collection is the depiction of human bodies, anthropomorphic creatures, and Maya deities, as there is a large amount of plates which contain illustrations related to these topics.
Among the figures that can be spotted in this compilation of plates, there are representations of dancers, hunters, seated individuals and groups, warriors, lords, and a skeleton. Drawings were made in various styles. In addition, the images are categorized in the report into: dancers with their body in frontal position, dancers with their body in profile, other profile scenes, seated individuals and groups, deities, and faces and heads on maya plates. In that way, this report could be considered a valuable contribution, since this collection of photographs by Dr. Nicholas Hellmuth illustrates how often these kinds of drawings were depicted in Maya art.
