Early Classic Cache Vessels with 2-Dimensional Decoration

This report showcases a compilation of more than 100 photographs of Maya cache vessels with three-dimensional designs and decorations. It also analyzes some of their features and the symbolism for some of them as well. The vessels are categorized into three groups based on their designs: vessels that depict the Jaguar God, vessels that depict God G1, black cache vessels, and additionally, there’s a compilation of cache vessels that don’t fall into the previous categories, but still belong to the Early Classic. This compilation aims to improve the understanding of the Maya culture during the Early Classic period.

This report presents a photographic compilation of more than 100 photographs of Early Classic Maya cache vessels with three-dimensional decorations. Short annotations regarding the artistic and iconographic elements, as well as the symbolism inherent in certain characters, garments, styles and motifs of the Early Classic are also included as footnotes for each photograph. The cache vessels are categorized into four groups according to their design and motifs: vessels with depictions of the Jaguar God of the Underworld, vessels that feature God G1, black cache vessels, and a compilation of cache vessels that don’t fall into the previous categories, but still belong to the same period. The array of intricate patterns and representations emphasizes the importance of these cache vessels as vital artifacts for understanding artistic, religious and cultural aspects of the Maya civilization during the Early Classic period.
