FLAAR Annual Report For Year 2023
In 2023, FLAAR Mesoamerica Team made significant strides in various projects associated with the documentation of Flora and Fauna of some Mesoamerican regions. Our work included the Biodiversity Documentation Project in the Mayan Biosphere Reserve, educational and field exploration videos, and the successful FLAAR Fest. We also created animated episodes for MayanToons and produced books on wildlife and ecosystems in collaboration with Selva Maya.
Description
This report presents a summary of the work accomplished by the FLAAR Mesoamerica team in 2023, including the Biodiversity Documentation Project in the Mayan Biosphere Reserve, which resulted in 22 photo-essays on species and ecosystems, as well as 31 reports based on field investigations. Additional achievements include 27 videos documenting field explorations and educational content, as well as the inaugural FLAAR Fest, which raised funds for educational materials and promoted information on Guatemala’s biodiversity and conservation. MayanToons produced three animated episodes on wildlife and began work on a new episode about bees as part of the Smart Bee project. Additionally, four books on wildlife and ecosystem topics were created in collaboration with Selva Maya for distribution in Guatemala, Belize, and Mexico.
